Whispered Lullaby
Viola and Piano
Duration: 5'
2006
This musical sketch was inspired by a passage
from Goethe’s Faust, where The Spirits paint a
nocturnal picture of a still lake reflecting a
glistening full moon. The work has also been
arranged for solo viola and strings orchestra and
solo piano. The overtone technique used at the
beginning was developed by Maxim Rysanov.
First performance: Maxim Rysanov and Katya
Apekisheva, St John's Smith Square, London, 2005
